Hi! Today, we are talking about police arrests.
What is an Arrest?
An arrest is an act of detaining a person who is reasonably suspected of having committed a criminal offence.
The police can arrest a person who is suspected of having committed a criminal offence.
Some arrests do not require a warrant. This is possible in cases of serious offences such as robbery, theft, and molest, touting and disorderly behaviour in a public place.
Some arrest requires a warrant. For non-serious offences like mischief and simple hurt, such as when a person slaps another on the arm during a dispute, an arrest can only be effected with a warrant from the court.
A police officer may also arrest anyone who commits an offence in the officer’s presence, obstructs him from executing his duties, or is wanted by the authorities.
So, there you have it, some very general and basic information about police arrest. Thanks for watching. Bye-bye!
